What Will Be Hot In Home Décor in 2020?

This is the question on the lips of the many thousands of people intending to change the look of the inside of their home over the coming weeks and months.

Keeping up with current trends is essential for anyone about to embark on a home transformation project as you want it to be reflective of design in 2020, and not look out of fashion.

You can grab up-to-the-minute ideas through the internet or by flicking through the many home interiors publications there are out there. But if you don’t have time for that, Orion has kindly done the work for you and uncovered the three key trends for 2020 that you could imitate in your own living space.

‘Tranquil Dawn’ and ‘Classic Blue’ are the colours of 2020

Wondering what kind of colour scheme, you should use? At the tail end of last year, Dulux and Pantone announced, ‘Tranquil Dawn’ and ‘Classic Blue’ would be their colours of the year for 2020.

A versatile shade of green that’s “inspired by the morning sky”, ‘Tranquil Dawn’ is a very calming colour, perfect for the relaxing atmosphere of a bedroom. Paint your bedroom walls in the colour or just add some Tranquil Dawn coloured cushion covers to your bed.

‘Classic Blue’ is described by Pantone as “a timeless and enduring hue, suggestive of the sky at dusk”. We would suggest not going too overboard with it due to its boldness. A Classic Blue splashback would look the part in a kitchen or bathroom within a white or cream coloured space.

Geometric patterns

The rise in popularity of geometric patterns in recent times has seen everything from cups, notebooks, wallpaper and couches to bedding, art, floors, light fixtures being made available.

Don’t go over the top with them though. Restrict their use to just one room in the house, a room that you want to make one of the most charismatic spots in the house.

You could have geometric bathroom floor tiles, geometric wallpaper in the living room or add some geometric throws to any furniture you have in your conservatory.

Sustainability

Home renovators seem keen to ensure any modifications they make to their properties have minimal damage on the health of the planet as search volumes for terms such as ‘green materials’ and ‘eco materials’ have never been higher.

It could see you ditching some of your old electrical appliances for energy efficient replacements, or only buying homewares and furniture made from recycled materials.

Sustainable products can be more expensive than mass-produced equivalents, but they’re surely worth the money if it helps us to preserve Mother Earth?

Our home improvement products have been hot with homeowners for more than 30 years. We’ve produced a series of brochures that you can request a copy of if you fancy including them in your home improvement plans.
