This year, it’s fashionable to hang a wreath in the space directly above a fireplace – a change from the age-old tradition of just placing one on your front door.
Cover your mantel with some foliage too, as you probably already do. However, send out a Christmas message of ‘Merry Christmas’ or ‘Let it Snow’ in neon lights within the foliage for a surprise seasonal difference.
Fill bottles and jars with fairy lights
We like to eat, drink and be merry at this time of year, which may leave you with lots of empty bottles and jars at home.
These empty containers can be made into decorative items. With a bottle, you could carefully clean it and put a hole in the bottom of it that’s big enough for you to feed through some LED fairy lights. For a jar, just push them in through its main opening.
They can then sit on window sills, tables, along the landing of your stairs etc. for a cute Christmassy touch.
Put your favourite festive photos on show
